Zat Knight was signed by Fulham from non-league Rushall Olympic in 1999 — an unconventional route that would become a defining part of his coaching philosophy. He went on to make over 200 Premier League appearances for Fulham, helping the club secure top-flight status across eight seasons before earning a £3.5 million move to Aston Villa in 2007.
His international debut came against the USA in May 2005, one of 2 England caps earned during a career defined by physical authority, aerial dominance, and an ability to read the game at the highest level. He joined Bolton Wanderers in 2009, where he was named club captain in 2013. Today he coaches the soccer programme at Sierra Canyon School in Los Angeles — one of the most competitive high school environments in the country.
That breadth of experience — from non-league Midlands to the Premier League to high-performance youth football in the US — shapes every session in this programme. Zat understands what development looks like at every level and every age.
"The biggest mistake young defenders make is treating confidence like weather. It's not. It's a routine."
Results
"My son came home from a session and said 'I know what to do when I get nutmegged now.' That sentence alone was worth the programme."
Rachel M.
Parent of U14 defender, Manchester
"Zat doesn't talk to kids like a clinic coach. He talks like someone who has actually had to mark Drogba on a wet Tuesday."
Darren K.
U16 academy parent, Birmingham
"I was about to quit football after being released. Three months of mindset work later I'm at a Cat 2 club and I actually enjoy training again."

Common questions
The programme is designed for players aged 11–18. Coaching is scaled to the player's current age, level, and development stage — a 12-year-old academy player and a 17-year-old non-league player will work through the same three pillars with completely different content and expectations.
